The start of hikes and mountain tours of various lengths and degrees of difficulty begins directly in front of our Hotel Kristall. Either on foot or with the mountain railway 300 metres away, you can really climb high: the Gitschberg, the Gaisjoch, the Seefeldseen. They let you experience nature with all your senses and offer you impressive panoramic views of the Dolomites, the Stubai Alps and the Zillertal Alps.
Maranza lies on the sunny route south wards on the top side of the Pusteria Valley. The fields and plains offer a numerous opportunities to explore the area. Next to the museums and South Tyrol’s Alpine huts are also Castle Rodenegg and the Neustift monastery which welcome you for a unique cultural experience.

Beginners from Meransen can hike beginners to the Moserhütte up to a height of 1940 meters. Alpine summit tours for clear days with the best view, cozy forest trails through shady and dense alpine forests – even with baby carriages! Especially for families with small children, the community Sexten designed the pacifier mile, with adventure playgrounds and picnic facilities.To present hiking fans only a few delicacies: Erdpyramiden plates, Lizard peak, Angerer Alm, Fassaner Höhenweg, Lanzwiese. And there are many more to discover. A highlight is the panoramic platform on the Gitschberg in the adjacent Eisacktal. If the climb is too difficult for you, take the comfortable panoramic lift, which you can use with your Almencard.

In the immediate vicinity of our hotel in Meransen you will find eight Nordic Walking trails in Meransen, Vals and Spinges. Get to know the surroundings of the Eisacktal during a quick walk and enjoy the wonderful view on your trail. Four other routes of varying length and difficulty can be found in Rodeneck, just 15 minutes away. Over 22km allow you to train your fitness and strengthen your upper body and back. Your Nordic Walking vacation in Meransen offers numerous trails to choose from: regardless of whether through the mountain village or, for trained Nordic Walker, over numerous mountain slopes and meadows in Altfasstal. There is something for everyone here.
Mountain bike & e-bike
Equally beneficial for body and soul is the mountain biking and e-bike ride in Meransen. Set yourself new challenges in your mountain bike holiday in South Tyrol and discover the numerous bike paths and mountain bike trails on the Gitschberg and in the Eisacktal. The alpine region Gitschberg-Jochtal offers numerous demanding routes for mountain bikers: Take the bike eastwards to Lienz or – for pleasure cyclists westwards downhill to the episcopal city of Bressanone. With the e-bike you can easily reach the northern border at Sterzing am Brenner.
